Evidently, understanding, compiling and categorization of different methodologies of Tafsīr is an epistemological need in the field of Tafsīr. The role of Tafsīr as a procedure is neither limited to the usage of various dictionaries to explain the meanings, nor is it limited to the usage of Hadith to determine various extensions, but it finds its correct place in the field of Quranic and exegesis sciences.
Since, the study of various methods of Tafsīr and their categorization is one of the later sciences; it can be said that the process of Tafsīr has started without a due background explanation of its methods. So, the need for methodologies of Tafsīr itself is a primary and necessary need whereas their explanation and categorization is a secondary need. Therefore, this book has been written as a methodological research on the various methods of Tafsīr which are consistent with its cognitive constructs.
