In Ghusl al-Janabah it is obligation to have the intention of proximity, thereafter washing the entire head and neck followed by the rest of the body, in any order, and it is not obligatory to begin with washing the right side if the body then the left, even prioritizing the left side or washing both sides together is permissible. Water must also reach all parts of the skin as well as areas which are apparent, although washing long hair is not obligatory, washing the conventional amount of it is obligatory, so that if it is pulled it will not be out of its natural limit.
